    Press release

Back to the Dawn will be featured with a playable demo at the upcoming Steam Next Fest starting today. The demo will be available until the 10th of July. Developed by Metal Head Games, distributed by Spiral Up Games and with an expected launch date in the second half of 2023, Back to the Dawn is an intense prison survival and escape RPG that puts players in the shoes of a framed and wrongly incarcerated journalist caught in a dark conspiracy.

Inspired by classic prison-themed shows like Prison Break and Chow Yun-Fatt’s Prison on Fire, Back to the Dawn offers players an intense and unpredictable experience within a maximum-security prison. Players will be immersed in a world of constant surveillance, wary alliances, and intense rivalries as they navigate a variety of areas within the prison, each with its own activities to engage in. Players must gather their wits and exploit weaknesses to survive and break free. Along the way, they’ll interact with a diverse cast of fellow inmates, deciding whether to befriend or manipulate them in their quest for freedom.

Aldric Chang, CEO of Spiral Up Games, expressed his excitement for the upcoming release: “We are incredibly proud to bring Back to the Dawn to the gaming community. Metal Head Games has created a truly immersive experience that challenges players to think creatively and adapt to the harsh world of prison life. The combination of engaging gameplay and storytelling makes this game an unforgettable adventure that we can’t wait for players to experience“.

    Game features:

Expansive Prison Environment: A detailed prison setting, filled with various locations and challenges, offers endless opportunities for exploration and strategy. Players must follow the rules or cleverly evade trouble as they navigate this hostile world.

Engaging Character Interactions: A colorful cast of fellow inmates, each with their unique backstory, provides the opportunity for players to forge alliances or create enemies. Choose to join a gang or become a cunning lone wolf who outmaneuvers everyone in your path.

Flexible Gameplay: Whether a brawler, thief or smooth talker, Back to the Dawn allows players to adopt various playstyles and skills. Learn trades, craft tools, and climb the prison hierarchy as you strive to become the top dog.

Dynamic Gang Alliances: Players can choose to join different gangs, each with their own motivations and agendas. Depending on the chosen alliance, players will gain different allies or enemies and open up new opportunities or dangers for themselves.

Intricate Jailbreak Puzzle: Utilize the secrets of the prison’s many locations, from the laundry room to the sewers, as pieces in your elaborate escape plan. Your creativity and resourcefulness will be your greatest weapons in the pursuit of freedom.

Unique and Replayable Experience: Back to the Dawn offers players flexibility and choice, ensuring that no two playthroughs are the same. Every decision made and action taken will have consequences that impact the rest of the game.

Multiple Endings: Embracing the diverse options and routes that players can explore, they can experience numerous endings, ranging from meeting their end in prison, continuing to serve out their life sentence, breaking free from jail, being exonerated, or encountering other interesting outcomes.
