After a period of engagement, it is time for the next level. For the 4th of November Mega Cat Studios invites all Genesis and Mega Drive fans to join them for the union of their new game and its Kickstarter campaign. But come prepared! As this promises to be a Lethal Weapon!
What else is a bride to do after all, than take up arms? After all the arrangements, picking up the perfect dress and having to deal with that mother in law, some criminal clowns dare to kidnap her groom on his bachelors party! Obviously, this won’t do. This bride is not having her special day ruined and it’s time to lock and load and clear out the low life trash in 30 levels of shooting action!
The game promises to be a love letter to 16-bit classics like Zombies Ate My Neighbors and action flicks from the ’80s and ’90s. From what we can see so far, that seems like a good comparison. Personally it also reminds me of the game based on True Lies and it does look like the game will pack a lot of character and certainly action.
Besides shooting various goons with an assortment of high powered weaponry, the game also has some light RPG elements. At the start of a level you take a vow, which will impose some kind of handicap upon the player, but in turn also grants an upgrade, which allows you to get stronger between levels. With 25 different upgrades and the promise that each playthrough offers a different experience, it seems like there’s some randomness involved
And you won’t have to go at it alone… because as mother in laws tend to do, she’ll have some select words for that clown cartel as well and she’ll let her boomstick do the talking during co-op play. Although having her tag along will surely result in some added banter as well to break up the action somewhat.
“We here at Mega Cat are thrilled to finally bring Lethal Wedding to Kickstarter!” said Zack Manko, Creative Director at Mega Cat Studios. “This beauty is our love letter to action movies and top-down shooters from the 16-bit era, mixed with some modern sensibilities for replayability and progression. Grab a friend and say, “I do!” to frenetic shooting and co-op carnage!”
It will be interesting to see how the game will shape up and on the 4th of November the Kickstart campaign will officially start.
