ININ Games has announced R-Type Dimensions III, a new release for one of the most respected shoot em up series. The studio is developing the project in close cooperation with Tozai and Irem, bringing the game to PlayStation 5, Xbox, Steam, Nintendo Switch and the Switch 2.
The new entry builds on R-Type Dimensions and R-Type Dimensions EX. Every stage, enemy and boss has been rebuilt with new visuals, updated animations and detailed environments that aim to preserve the tone and structure of the arcade originals. Players can switch at any moment between original assets and the reimagined presentation. Music and sound effects have received the same treatment, allowing for a mix of classic and modern audio.
According to ININ Publishing Producer Felix Wagner, the studio sees this project as its most ambitious restoration to date with a focus on precision and authenticity.

ININ has also started pre-orders for two physical editions.
Special Edition (€59,99)
Includes the game, an artbook with concept art and development material, and the new soundtrack.
Collector’s Edition (€199,99)
Contains all Special Edition items and adds several exclusive extras, with a figurine based on the new cover art as the key item.
R-Type Dimensions III is planned for a worldwide digital and physical release in May 2026. More details will follow as the launch window approaches.
