Although we weren’t able to review the game, we were still on the high from the formidable Shadow Gambit : The Cursed Crew. The game got mid-80s scores on all its versions of the game on metacritic. Now, its developer, Mimimi Games informed its community through their Discord server that they’ve thrown the towel. Shadow Gambit will be Mimimi Games last game. We here at Retrolike.net are saddened by this announcement and we hope all people currently working at Mimimi will find a new place in or outside the industry. In a statement on Mimimi’s blog page, they made an…

Our Gamescom reporter, Fleaman, has been on the lookout for retro-inspired games on the world’s biggest video game gathering. Of course, this year the retro and indie sections of the convention floor have plenty of retro-like goodness to discover. The first game that catched our attention is Abathor, by Spanish outfit Pow Pixel Games and publisher Jandusoft. Fleaman was hands-on with the game and we’re certainly impressed with the games unique 4 player platforming hack and slash gameplay. Of course we are in it for the retrolike games and the preshow for Opening Night Live dropped some trailers already which showed some cool stuff. Although Gamescom never has been a event for new game reveals, it does usually guaranteed first gameplay trailers and launch dates. Streets of Rogue 2 First of all, Streets of Rogue 2, has been in development in for quite a while, but…

This is a Blasphemous review, played and tested on Xbox (Series X). The game is also available for Nintendo Switch, PS4/PS5 and Steam. Without bloodshed, there shall be no forgiveness Ever since the announcement of Blasphemous 2, we here at Retrolike.net, have been keeping a close eye on what the Spanish developer Game Kitchen was cooking. Within the ranks of Retrolike, Rob and I were the most interested in the game, both having played its prequel and being intrigued by it in our own ways. We are both Metroidvania enthusiasts, but we have had wildly different experiences with the first game. While I truly enjoyed the…

ININ Games and Taito are definitely ‘sitting in a tree’, so to speak, as yet another IP is making its way to current-day consoles. This game is being added to the list, which already consists of re-releases and remakes like Bubble Bobble Everbubble, Parasol Stars, Taito Milestones 1 & 2, the Darius collection, and the Ray’z Collection that came out a month ago. This latest release is one you wouldn’t expect and probably haven’t even heard of. The game we are talking about is Spica Adventure. Until now, Spica Adventure was a 2005 Japan-only, arcade-exclusive game that has never seen…
