8-bit Flap Happy Kickstarter is live… and goal is met

British indie Refresh Games collaborated with Mega Cat Studio to get the Kickstarter campaign for their 8-Bit rogue-like “this “Flap Happy” started, and well, it already has it’s (humble) goal met!

The campaign went up on January 25th and with still 26 days to go, Flap Happy is physical and digital pledge rewards will be reality. The game will be released digitally and produced physically for NES and Gameboy. We have seen many NES and Gameboy homebrew physical releases before and we have covered many of them (check out our coverage of Christmas Crisis for example), but we seldom see a game being released on two retro platforms at simultaneously.

If you’re interested in a physical version of the game, you can still pledge for the game and choose from a huge list of pledge packages. Rewards vary from digital packages featuring ROM, PDF manual and digital OST and physical editions (cart only and CIB) to Limited Editions including a poster, sticker sheets, pins, keychains and much more.

    About Flap Happy

Flap your wings off in the world’s first 8-Bit Avian Roguelike Platformer! Take on the challenge of defying gravity, avoiding menacing sharks, and conquering hazardous landscapes as you flap your way through each level. With procedural randomization, every flap introduces you to a new, unpredictable adventure!

Your ultimate goal is to guide Flappy through the mysterious and dangerous mazes and land on all of the five platforms to activate the exit platform. A successful landing on each of these platforms grants you bonus points, as well as a speed bonus for completing each level.

However, the road to your escape is paved with dangers. Try not to hit the spikes and enemies randomly placed around each level. Hitting them will cost Flappy his life!

    Features

    • Over 900 Levels: Experience the thrill of navigating through countless levels spread across four challenging worlds!
    • Bragging Rights: Aim for the high score and be the legendary flapper in the annals of gaming history!
    • Dodge Unique Enemies: Encounter snakes, sharks, and a variety of unexpected obstacles on your flapping journey!

    Contest

We invite gamers, supporters, and adventurers to join our Kickstarter campaign and be part of bringing “Flap Happy” to life. Find our Gleam contest link here for fans to have a chance to win an exclusive prototype copy of the game.
