Antstream adds 1400 retro games to the Xbox ecosystem

Antstream announced it’s launch on Xbox as the largest content drop in history the Xbox ecosystem. And that seems pretty accurate, as it adds 1500 retro games to the Xbox ecosystem in one go.

The game selection on the platform is primarily focused on home computers, with a significant number of Amiga games (201), C64 games (358), and ZX Spectrum games (351) available. While Antstream also offers a nice selection of Arcade games, it appears that the representation of 8-bit and 16-bit consoles is somewhat limited. Additionally, some of the games available on Antstream can also be found on other platforms and are widely licensed out already. For example, “40 Winks,” one of the two Playstation 1 games available on the platform, is also accessible through Evercade’s Piko Interactive Collection 3 cartridge, which we recently reviewed.

Nevertheless, Antstream is continually expanding its library, with new games being added regularly. This suggests that the service will continue to grow and offer even more options for retro-gamers in the future.

In addition to simply playing games, Antstream organizes tournaments and features mini-game challenges, including daily challenges.

The service can be accessed through a browser, Android and iOS apps, and also natively on a Samsung TV, for instance. A year’s subscription is now available for €/$29.99, with a lifetime pass available for €/$79.99.
