Ahead of the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, Arc Systems (via Famitsu) has shared some details on what to expect from its upcoming title Double Dragon Revive, which is expected to release sometime in 2025. As of now, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X versions are in the works. Strangely, there’s no mention of a Nintendo Switch version. Don’t be surprised if the game ends up as a Switch 2-only release in Nintendo’s ecosystem once the new console is announced.

Arc Systems reveals that we can expect classic Double Dragon beat-’em-up, belt-scrolling action, but with added flair like parkour and swing jump mechanics. Unlike the previously released and highly rated Double Dragon Gaiden, Double Dragon Revive steps away from 2D pixel art and takes a completely different approach. Arc Systems sticks to the bird eye angled beat-’em-up gameplay but adds a layer of realism to the art style, resembling a more polished and modern version of Double Dragon Neon (2012).

Along with the promise of more—but still vague—swing jump and parkour mechanics, new features like an “Instant Death” move, critical attacks, and new grapple moves have been added to the combat system. The developer also released images of some character designs, both familiar and new, which show that our well-known protagonists and their enemies are getting a grittier, more realistic look. Another interesting note is that all main characters will be fully voiced by notable actors, including Kazuyuki Okitsu and Taketo Koyasu.

There’s a lot to look forward to at the Tokyo Game Show, where Arc Systems is expected to have the game playable on the show floor, with a special stage event planned as well. In the meantime, check out the pre-show Double Dragon Revive trailer:
