Dutch YouTuber Dosgamert and developer Lethal Guitar have been working on remastering Apogee’s cult classic BioMenace for some time. On July 11th, they released the BioMenace Remastered demo on Steam. This demo shows the efforts put in to the project that should revive Apogee’s 1993 platform shooter and provides an early look at the remaster in progress.
Updates and Improvements
The remaster runs on an updated engine with support for modern resolutions. Controls are refined for smoother movement and jumping. Asset upgrades include redrawn sprites and background art that stay true to the original style. Players can freely switch between the original 4:3 graphics and the remastered 16:9 version with updated sprites and backgrounds.

Demo Details
The playable demo includes four levels chosen by the developer. Feedback from these stages will help shape the final version, which is expected to extend through Episode 4 of the full game. The demo also features all the quality-of-life improvements and a demo-specific leaderboard where you can compete against the world on score and playthrough time. The leaderboard is a fun extra and should help to build a community behind the project for which, going by the Dosgamert’s videos regarding the project, is already gaining momentum.
BioMenace Remastered will release near the end of 2025 on PC, and you can already add the game to your Steam wishlist.
