On the heels of our news about Sea of Stars joining Game Pass on day one, publisher Gravity Game Arise has announced that their upcoming project, Alterium Shift, will enter “Early Access” on July 6th.

The two-person development team is pretty clear why the opted to open up there game for early access sales:

“Alterium Shift is entering Early Access for several compelling reasons. At the forefront, we aim to provide our eager community with a robust gameplay experience that extends beyond a simple demo. We’re also enthusiastic about receiving and implementing player feedback, helping us to refine and polish the game’s mechanics, world, and story.

However, there’s another layer to our decision to launch Early Access. As a passionate two-person team, we’ve dedicated countless hours to making Alterium Shift the best game it can be, and we’ve reached a point where additional funding can profoundly enhance the depth and scope of our game. We view Early Access as a partnership opportunity with our community – not only does it offer players an early look at the game, but it also provides us with the means to further realize our vision for Alterium Shift.“

The game combines classically rooted gameplay with modern features and progression systems. Similar to Sea of Stars, Alterium Shift boasts beautiful pixel graphics and incorporates the 2.5D diorama-like perspective we have come to know from Square Enix’s recent retro-inspired releases and remakes. Such as Live-A-Live and Octopath Traveler I and II, for instance. The addition of visual effects further enhances the production quality.

Embark on a journey through the living world of Alteria and experience its dynamic quests, unique turn-based combat, and choice-driven storylines. With three branching narratives and unforgettable characters, Alterium Shift is a retro-inspired JRPG that offers a new adventure with every playthrough.

The game is set to have a widespread release on PC and consoles, but for now only the Steam version is available to put on your wishlist.
