Yacht Club Games has officially released the Mina the Hollower demo today for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 ahead of the full game’s October 31, 2025 launch . The demo is available for a limited time on the Nintendo eShop through August 21 and covers the game’s opening stage, concluding with the first major boss encounter. Progress made in this demo carries over in full to the retail release.

Demo players can explore Tenebrous Isle, guiding the ingenious mouse inventor Mina as she wields her whip, the Nightstar, against creatures that stalk the haunted landscape. Core mechanics, such as “Hollowing,” which lets Mina burrow underground briefly to traverse gaps and avoid damage, are fully implemented. Sidearms including hatchets and daggers make an early appearance in the demo, alongside the ability to equip trinkets for permanent stat boosts.
A standout feature exclusive to the Switch 2 version and included in the demo, is 120 fps support, making Mina the Hollower one of the first titles on Nintendo’s next-gen handheld to offer a silky-smooth framerate. Whether docked or handheld, Switch 2 owners can toggle this high-frame option in the settings menu. The original Switch also supports the demo, albeit capped at 60 fps.
Alongside the technical polish, the demo showcases the game’s pixel-perfect graphics, tight animation, and atmospheric sound design. Players will encounter early sections of the cursed village, venture into shadowy ruins, and face the demo’s designated boss, offering both newcomers and returning fans a taste of the full adventure’s challenge and charm.

Mina the Hollower draws clear inspiration from classic handheld titles like The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and Castlevania, while integrating modern Souls-style healing and combat depth. The demo’s smooth framerate and responsive controls highlight how Yacht Club Games balances retro aesthetic with contemporary design standards.
Demo feedback already has been overwhelmingly positive, with players praising the burrowing mechanic for adding new tactical layers and the 120 fps option on Switch 2. As the demo period runs through August 21, Yacht Club encourages players to submit bug reports and feedback to the official forums, ensuring the final release benefits from community-driven polish.
Mina the Hollower’s October 31 release is just months away, in the meantime we will keep you up to date with more Mina the Hollower and another retro-inspired video game news.
