Arc System Works Europe and Taito Corporation have announced that Bubble Bobble Sugar Dungeons is now open for pre-orders on Steam and Nintendo Switch, with its full release set for November 27.
This new chapter in the long-running Bubble Bobble series mixes nostalgic bubble-popping action with roguelike dungeon exploration. For PC players, a Digital Deluxe Edition is also available, bundling a 25-track soundtrack and a 113-page digital art book. Both are exclusive to the Deluxe bundle and won’t be sold separately.
A fresh developer update, Producer Letter Vol. 4, went live alongside the announcement, featuring Bub and the game’s producer showing off new gameplay segments and revisiting some familiar mechanics.
New Tricks, Old Magic
Fans of the classic arcade titles will immediately recognize series staples like the Fire Bubble and Water Bubble, each returning with flashy modern effects. But Sugar Dungeons doesn’t just rely on nostalgia, new moves like Balloon Hair let Bub drift through the air, while Rolling Attack clears the floor in a single sweep.

Each ability can be upgraded using materials found in treasure chests, adding a light RPG layer to the series’ trademark arcade feel. Players will have to plan their loadout carefully, inventory space is limited, and choosing which skills to bring into a dungeon could make the difference between a successful run and a sticky end.
Bub’’’s Bizarre Dungeon Adventure
Described as the first “step-up” Bubble Bobble game, Sugar Dungeons sends Bub on an unexpected journey through procedurally shifting labyrinths. When he wakes in a mysterious laboratory, a confection-obsessed stranger named Don Dolchen asks him to recover hidden treasures scattered across dungeons and castles.

Along the way, Bub is joined by Amy, a chatty robot companion created by Dolchen who offers tips and keeps morale high during dungeon crawls. Players will jump, trap and bubble their way through sprawling interconnected stages — a significant evolution from the single-screen levels of the original arcade game.
Each run allows Bub to gather loot, unlock new powers and explore the vast “Castle” stage, a hub filled with maze-like rooms where treasures and dangers intertwine.
Retro Bonus for Collectors
In a nod to long-time fans, the game package also includes a port of the 1997 home console title Bubble Symphony, giving players another reason to revisit Taito’s colorful legacy.
Bubble Bobble Sugar Dungeons launches on November 27, 2025, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Steam.
