New trailer for Yuzo Koshiro’s Earthion shows off dazzling pixel art in new trailer

With no set release date yet within its 2025 window, the new trailer for Earthion has injected some renewed hype into the project. The biggest takeaway is that the game — led by legendary video game music producer Yuzo Koshiro — is definitely shaping up well. Its pixel art and animation set a high bar for production values. While the trailer doesn’t reveal much about gameplay, the horizontal shmup is already turning heads among pixel-art enthusiasts. Developed by Ancient, Earthion has a distinct look that strongly evokes Hideo Kojima’s classic Policenauts.

Alongside the trailer, the newly launched Earthion website also reveals that the game is co-published by Bitwave Games and Limited Run Games. The title is set to release on PC, Xbox Series S/X, Switch, and both PlayStation platforms. A cool detail: Earthion will also be released physically as a Mega Drive/Genesis cartridge. We can only presume LRG will take care of the physical Mega Drive/Genesis release, but that seems very likely. Keep an eye on LRG’s retro section for the upcoming pre-order — chances are it’ll sell out quickly.
