The Atari Jaguar continues to surprise long after its commercial lifespan, and Where Is It?: The Quest for the 10th Island is a strong example of what dedicated homebrew developers can achieve on Atari’s often misunderstood hardware.
Originally debuting during JagJam 2024, developer Eric M. (Ricco59) has spent over two years refining this mix of puzzle, observation, and counting gameplay. Now published physically by Songbird Productions, the 2026 release feels like a complete and carefully finished version, with more content and a tighter overall structure.

Find it fast
At its core, Where Is It? asks players to locate 3×3 clusters of matching fruits and vegetables under time pressure. The concept is simple, but the execution quickly becomes demanding. Across Easy, Normal, and Hard modes, the pace builds steadily. Mistakes cost five seconds, which becomes increasingly punishing as the game speeds up. On higher difficulties, that penalty can disrupt your flow almost immediately.
Bonus rounds
Completing a set of rounds unlocks one of three bonus games. Countit! focuses on quick counting using the Jaguar’s number pad. Toast’em introduces a rhythm-based shooting challenge that brings to mind Dance Dance Revolution in how it relies on timing and precision. Catch’em offers a more relaxed collection-focused mode. Marathon Mode ties everything together into a longer, continuous run.

More than a puzzle game
Story Mode adds context to the experience. You play as Reko, a stranded robot navigating the islands of Serenia while being pursued by the bounty hunter Druhl. The premise is simple, but it gives the game direction. Progressing through nine islands in search of the hidden tenth provides a clear sense of progression.

A polished homebrew package
This release goes beyond the core gameplay. Enhanced music, additional story sequences, EEPROM high score saving and a refined interface all contribute to a more complete package. As a physical release from Songbird Productions, it also caters to collectors, with a box and manual included. Pre-orders are available ahead of the April 25, 2026 release.
