Less than a month ago, we saw the first instance of a Legacy cartridge from Blaze Evercade being re-released with the Piko Interactive Collection 1. This is Home Cartridge (Red Label) #9 in a series that currently stands at 52 collections and is expected to reach 54 by the end of 2026.
In this particular case, the only difference between the original 2020 release and the 2026 re-release is the omission of Magic Girl, a 1993 unlicensed Taiwanese shoot-’em-up that was released for the Sega Mega Drive in Southeast Asian territories.
Because this was the first known instance of a Legacy cartridge being re-released, rumors immediately began circulating about whether Blaze would eventually bring back additional Legacy cartridges.
There have been no official announcements from Blaze confirming that more Legacy cartridges are being re-released. However, something announced last week by GameStop in the United States has certainly raised some eyebrows.
GameStop announced an upcoming Capcom Super Pocket bundle featuring three Evercade cartridges: Atari Arcade 2 (Arcade Cartridge – Purple Label #14), Taito Arcade 2 (Arcade Cartridge – Purple Label #18), and, most interestingly, Interplay Collection 1 (Home Cartridge – Red Label #4).
The Interplay Collection 1 cartridge is particularly interesting because it was one of Evercade’s original launch titles, having been released in May 2020.
When GameStop initially put the bundle up for preorder, the product photos showed Interplay Collection 1 with the newer 2026-style cover artwork, rather than the original launch-day 2020 artwork.
That detail immediately raised questions here at both Retrolike and the Lancaster City Dragonrats. Could this be another Legacy cartridge re-release?
There are currently a couple of possibilities.
The first is that Blaze could be preparing to officially re-release Interplay Collection 1 as the second Legacy cartridge to receive a new production run, potentially around Halloween 2026.
The second possibility is that this could simply be a GameStop-exclusive variant, particularly because this particular bundle is scheduled to be released exclusively in the United States.
As of this writing, Blaze has not officially confirmed or commented on the possibility of a second Legacy cartridge re-release. However, the GameStop product photos certainly make the situation interesting.
Based on the images provided by GameStop, the 2026 bundle appears to include all six games that were originally included with the 2020 release of Interplay Collection 1. The apparent difference is the newer 2026-style presentation and packaging.
The bundle itself is scheduled to be released on October 30, 2026, exclusively in the United States, for $129.99.
At this point, we simply don’t know whether this is an actual Legacy cartridge re-release or merely a newer production run packaged specifically for this GameStop bundle. Until Blaze makes an official announcement, it remains speculation.
Still, considering that we have already seen the Piko Interactive Collection 1 receive a Legacy re-release in 2026, the possibility of Interplay Collection 1 following the same path is certainly worth watching.
And if this really is a Legacy re-release, it raises an even bigger question: how many more of Evercade’s original 2020-era cartridges could eventually return with the modern 2026 packaging?
For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But with the GameStop bundle arriving on October 30, we shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to find out.
As for the $129.99 price, it also appears that Blaze/Hyper Mega Tech may be using this bundle as an opportunity to move remaining Capcom Super Pocket inventory while simultaneously packaging it with three Evercade cartridges, including what could potentially be another Legacy re-release.
Either way, the Interplay Collection 1 situation is definitely one to keep an eye on.
