During the Evercade Showcase Vol.2 Indie Special, the first-ever single game cartridge is presented, and the honors go to Full Void, a retro-inspired puzzle-platformer from OutofTheBit.
Ahead of it’s time(?)
The game has received some mixed critical reviews. While the press shrugged its shoulders at the game (with an average score of 66 on Metacritic), Steam users liked it a lot more, giving it a “Very Positive” rating. “Full Void,” originally released in 2008, was an early example of the pixel art resurgence that has been seen in the last two decades. Maybe it was a bit to early for critics to embrace its retro-inspired goodness. Anyway, now, it is finally released physically for the first time.
There is no text or dialogue in the game; instead, it solely relies on environmental storytelling, cinematic audio, and greatly animated cutscenes, all in beautifully crafted 2D pixel art.
Regular and special edition
The game will be available in a regular Evercade release and a Special Edition. The Special Edition contains a blue-colored cartridge, the game manual, a Prologue Comic, and a special edition cardboard sleeve. The regular edition, in the on-brand Evercade style packaging, will be priced at $/€ 19.99 (£ 17.99), while the special edition will cost $/€ 29.99 (£ 24.99), which is still a very friendly price.
