If you thought this was news about a sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, I have to disappoint you. But off the back of the highly beloved pixel beat ’em up, Nickelodeon and Raw Thrills polished up the arcade game TMNT: Wrath of the Mutants from 2017 for a home release on April 23rd, 2024. Raw Thrills is known for high-octane, highly fluorescent arcade games and cabinets you find in modern-day, ticket-driven arcades. They are responsible for arcade games based on popular franchises like Halo, Jurassic Park, and the Fast and the Furious as well.

If you’re not familiar with their work, all Raw Thrills games and arcade cabinets have a very typical look and style. They are all very loud (colors and sound) and colorful and impossible to miss when you enter a modern-day arcade establishment. To get an idea of what I mean by that, Cruisin’ Blast, another Raw Thrills production, encapsulates this style perfectly.

In general, it has been since that same Cruisin’ Blast hit the Nintendo Switch that an arcade-originated game hit the home consoles. We haven’t played the original, but from the looks of it, the game doesn’t look like a game that could particularly please the ‘Shredder’s’ crowd. We hope we can review the game and tell you all about it, but for now you’ll have to do with the key features of the game, as published by the publisher:

    Key Features:

    • Double the Mayhem: Fight your way through six stages and 13 boss battles, including three all-new stages and six new boss battles not present in the original arcade release.
    • Play as the Four Turtles: Leo, Raph, Donnie and Mikey, voiced by the talents of the 2012 TMNT series (Seth Green, Sean Astin, Rob Paulsen, Greg Cipes), are ready to fight against the evil Foot Clan!
    • Unleash Turtle Power: Use special super attacks unique to each Turtle to devastate waves of enemies and find tokens to summon mutant backup to help clear your foes.Team Up in Local Co-op: Play with your friends in four-player local couch co-op.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants launches 23rd April 2024, on PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam for £24.99.
