Revolution Software announces Broken Sword: Parzival’s stone

Revolution Software has just announced a sixth installment in the Broken Sword franchise, called Broken Sword: Parzival’s Stone. The new installment lets us play as George and Nico once again as they unravel a sinister conspiracy in a world of hidden treasure hunters, brutal medieval histories, and Quantum Physics.

The Broken Sword series has undergone several different art directions. It began with hand-drawn 2D graphics for the first 2 games, transitioned to full-blown 3D graphics for parts 3 and 4, and returned to 2D with its 5th installment. This new installment reverts back to 3D, but with a twist. Series creator Charles Cecil describes the new graphical style as “super 2D,” as it attempts to recreate the look of the original games by applying hand-drawn textures to the 3D geometry. The game will feature a classic point-and-click adventure game interface.

Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars

Alongside the announcement of the new installment, Revolution Software also revealed a remaster of the first installment. Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars has been updated to 4K resolution and features fully redrawn assets. Interestingly, they are utilizing a combination of human artists and AI techniques for this. The game’s audio will also be upscaled, with a few minor changes made to the story and characterization to align with modern sensibilities. Additionally, gameplay improvements have been incorporated from the currently available ‘Director’s Cut’ version.

Metroidvania's, soulslike or any game that calls for self-flagellation is what this dutch guy loves. How harder and relentless the game is, the more joy he gets out of it. But don't tell anyone he likes some easy games as well.
