More good news is emerging from the Kickstarter front, as another project has successfully reached its target much faster than anticipated. This time, Spilled! hit the ground running, achieving full funding within just 12 hours. The project, led by Dutch indie solo developer Lente, has now surpassed 140% of its fairly sizable €10,000 goal.

Spoiled! is a relaxing and eco-conscious game where players clean up pollution with their boat. Navigating through eight progressively larger areas with increasing waste, there’s no rush – take your time. While Spoiled! is a shorter game that can be completed in just 1 hour, the level selector allows players to revisit any area for a more leisurely experience. By bringing collected oil to the recycling center, players can earn coins to upgrade their ship. In addition to cleaning lakes and ponds, players also have the responsibility of rescuing animals scattered throughout the levels.

This marks the debut project for the 23-year-old developer, who aimed to create ecological awareness alongside an enjoyable and relaxing gaming experience. She drew inspiration for her eco activist video game from her daily encounters with water pollution while living on houseboats in the Netherlands. Lente purchased her own tiny houseboat in 2022 which she transformed it into a low-footprint, cost-effective residence for living and creating video games.

Despite already reaching the pledge goal, supporters can still contribute by pledging for a wide range reward schemes. These range from digital copies of the game to Beta access, credit mentions, and Discord roles.

    Features

    • Short but satisfying – Move through 8 areas, each bigger in size and with more waste. No rush, take as long as you want. Spilled! is a short yet cozy game that you can finish in 1 hour, but you can use the level selector to go back to any area if you just want to relax!
    • Recycle and earn coins: Clean up a whole area to move on to the next.
    • Upgrade your boat: Be ready for the next area, get a bigger collector, a bigger tank, or more speed!
    • Face new challenges: Each area has a new challenge! Push plastic to the recycling centre, wash oil off of the land and more!
    • Find and rescue 2 animals per area, for a total of 16!
