Rocket Panda is ready to blast onto your Genesis / Mega Drive next week

The creative minds over at Mega Cat Studios are ready to release their newest physical cartridge for the Genesis & Mega Drive. Rocket Panda will be blasting off on the 16th of September! Get ready for a jet-powered adventures and don’t bother to pack for lunch, tea and biscuits will be plentiful!

Seeing new releases for your favorite consoles is always a welcome sight and Mega Cat Studios has built up quite the track record in providing in this niche, but growing, market. Rocket Panda comes forth from a collaboration with Space Pants Games and Video Game Sage, who’ve been hard at work to polish the game for its release next week. “We’re really excited to get this out to the wonderful people still supporting the Genesis / Mega Drive,” said Julian Scott, owner of Space Pants Games.

In Rocket Panda you help the titular hero navigate through various snack themed worlds, saving his badger friends. It will require wits and precision as you soar through the levels with a jetpack, collecting all treats along the way. To achieve the best times and scores you’ll need to avoid all the baddies or unleash some tea-infused wrath and send the evil Biscuit Head and his lackies crumbling into confectionery toppings.

From what we’ve seen so far, the game is shaping up to be a nice treat for fans of the 16-bit system out there and offer a colorful new adventure. Rocket Panda originally started as a series of flash games and animations, so it will be quite nostalgic for many for that reason as well. Next to the 60+ maze-like levels, there’s seven bosses to do battle with.

If you want a taste for what’s to come, a demo is available on the store page. Cartridges will be available from the 16th of September. Want to know more about the game before you bite in? Stay tuned for our review here on Retrolike soon!

Seb lives in the past, enjoying stuff from years ago or things that remind of the 'good old days'. He's fond of most retro gaming systems and for some reason has a thing with the Philips CD-i. He doesn't see very well, maybe that's why?
