Evercade is going to Hell this October. Blaze Entertainment has revealed a limited DOOM Edition of its upcoming Evercade Nexus handheld, with pre-orders now open exclusively through Funstock. Only 3,000 units will be produced worldwide.
The Evercade Nexus DOOM Edition takes the upcoming premium handheld and gives it a suitably demonic makeover, with a dark grey and red colour scheme and DOOM artwork covering the system. More importantly, the package also includes the newly announced DOOM Collection cartridge, bringing the original DOOM and DOOM II to Evercade alongside a sizeable selection of additional campaigns.
The cartridge includes DOOM, DOOM II: Hell on Earth, Master Levels for DOOM II, TNT: Evilution, The Plutonia Experiment, No Rest for the Living, SIGIL and SIGIL II. A collection of DOOM Deathmatch levels is included as well.
More than a DOOM paint job
The limited edition package comes with several extras that won’t be included with the regular Nexus. Alongside the handheld and DOOM Collection cartridge, buyers get an exclusive red EVA carrying case, numbered certificate of authenticity, DOOM poster, comic, cartridge keyring and screen protector.
Underneath the DOOM exterior this is the same Evercade Nexus announced earlier this year. The new handheld represents a considerable step up from the EXP-R, with a 5.89-inch 840×512 IPS display rated at over 500 nits, dual analogue sticks, Wi-Fi 6, wireless headphone support and front-facing stereo speakers.
It also introduces EverSync, which allows multiple Nexus handhelds to connect directly for supported multiplayer games without requiring a Wi-Fi network. Battery life is rated at over five hours and, like previous Evercade handhelds, the Nexus retains TATE support for vertically oriented games.
The Nexus remains compatible with the existing Evercade cartridge library, currently spanning more than 80 cartridges and over 700 games, while its new hardware also opens the door to the 32 and 64-bit games Blaze is increasingly adding to the platform.
DOOM finally joins Evercade
The DOOM Collection also marks the franchise’s first official appearance on Evercade. It’s a fairly substantial debut too, rather than simply putting the two original games on a cartridge. The inclusion of later campaigns such as No Rest for the Living and John Romero’s SIGIL and SIGIL II makes this considerably more comprehensive.
The Evercade Nexus DOOM Edition is limited to 3,000 units worldwide and is available exclusively through Funstock for €239.99 in Europe, £199.99 in the UK and $249.99 in the US. It is scheduled to ship on October 30, 2026.
The standalone DOOM Collection will also launch on October 30, so existing Evercade owners won’t need to buy another handheld just to start ripping and tearing.
