While the global SNK-fanbase is still recovering from the news of the Neo GEO AES+ announcement, SNK Corporation has quitely also released World Heroes Perfect on Steam. They are bringing the 1995 NEOGEO fighter back with a set of modern upgrades. The re-release is part of the NEOGEO Premium Selection line, which focuses on updating classic arcade titles for current platforms.
The game sticks to its original structure: a 2D fighting game featuring 19 characters, many loosely based on historical figures. Fighters compete across a series of matches to claim the title of the world’s strongest, with the original mechanics and pacing largely intact.
Rollback netcode and expanded modes
The most notable addition is rollback netcode, aimed at improving online play stability. Players can join lobbies with up to nine participants, with support for multiple tournament-style formats.
Beyond online play, the package includes a Practice Mode with adjustable speed settings, allowing players to fine-tune combos and timing. A Gallery Mode has also been added, featuring artwork from the original release.

Hidden characters now fully playable
This version also makes previously limited or hidden characters more accessible. Son Gokuu, NEO-DIO, and Zeus are all playable from the start, with Zeus no longer restricted as in earlier versions.

To mark the release, World Heroes Perfect is available at a 25% discount until May 8, bringing the price down to €14.99 from the standard €19.99.
