One of our favourite games of 2025 has made the jump to Nintendo Switch 2. PM Studios and Brazilian developer Pocket Trap have released Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo for Nintendo’s latest system, bringing several technical upgrades along with it.
The self-proclaimed “yoyovania” originally launched in May 2025, combining Zelda-style top-down exploration with a surprisingly versatile yoyo mechanic. Players take control of Pippit, a young bat using his yoyo for combat, traversal and puzzle solving across a large interconnected city.
We were particularly fond of it at Retrolike, awarding Pipistrello a 9/10 in our review and calling it “one of the best modern entries in the top-down 2D action-adventure genre.” You can read our full Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo review here.
4K, HDR and 120 FPS
The Switch 2 edition brings some substantial technical improvements. In handheld mode the game can now run at 1080p and 120 FPS, while docked play supports 4K resolution. HDR support has also been added.
Better still, existing owners haven’t been left behind. Anyone who already owns the Nintendo Switch version can download the Switch 2 Upgrade Pack for free through the Nintendo eShop.
Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo is available now for Nintendo Switch 2, priced at $19.99.
