Hardcore Dreamcast gamers who still fondly remember Sega’s white powerhouse until its untimely demise have been well treated in recent months. It must feel surreal to see Sega’s own franchises and Capcom’s contributions to the platform revitalized. Numerous re-releases and franchise sequels have been announced, creating a whirlwind of excitement.
One standout is the follow-up to the Dreamcast (and later on PS2) classic, Tokyo Xtreme Racer. Announced during the Tokyo Game Show in August, the game is slated for an early access release on January 23. There are no announcements on possible console versions of the game right now, but those are expected once the game gets out of early access and gets officially released.
With the game just weeks away from public availability, Genki has revealed some intriguing details, including PC specifications and information about the available cars.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2025 car list
This is the first reappearance of the franchise in 18 years and going on the screenshots and trailers many fans were noticing the game has more of a remake vibe, leaning heavily on the cars and style of the original game from 25 years ago.
The cars available, logically, lean for 95% on Japanese cars in previous editions and it’s save to assume this will be the case in Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2025. You can expect the game will lean heavily on the 80s and 90s classics Wangan racing thrived on in the past, but screenshots of eveal that the game features new cars as well, like this Mazda MX-30, below and the Mini Cooper from the previous screenshot.
Details have been published very randomly with car reveals on Genki’s Youtube channel. Our guess is that the early access version of the game will have a very subdued car selection which will be built out during the early access period. The cars that have already been introduced:
- Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II (R34)
- Toyota Supra RZ (A80)
- Mazda RX-7 Type RZ (FD3S)
- Toyota GR86 RZ (ZN8)
- Toyota Corolla Levin GT-APEX (AE86)
- Subaru Impreza WRX (GDB)
Along with some of the cars some rivals and part producers have also been revealed. We’ll try to keep up as news rolls out Genki’s marketing machine. Check out Tokyo Xtreme Racer’s Steam page to wishlist it.
