Retroware has announced that physical editions of Neon Inferno and The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit are now available directly through the publisher’s online store, following their earlier pre-order campaign with Limited Run Games.
Both games are available for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 at $39.99 each. The releases include reversible covers and printed manuals, with AVGN 8-Bit also featuring artwork by Mike Matei.
Neon Inferno Brings A 32-Bit Styled Cyberpunk Shooter To Physical Format
Developed by Zenovia Interactive, Neon Inferno originally launched digitally in November 2025 across Steam and modern consoles. The game blends traditional side-scrolling action with gallery-shooter mechanics, allowing players to attack enemies in both the foreground and background simultaneously.

Set in a dystopian version of New York City, players take on the role of an assassin working for a powerful crime syndicate known as The Family. The presentation leans heavily into late-‘90s arcade aesthetics, combining detailed pixel art with a synth-heavy soundtrack and fast-paced action.
Retroware describes the gameplay as a mix between classics such as Contra and Wild Guns. Alongside solo play, the game also includes two-player co-op and a harder arcade-style 1-credit-clear mode for players looking for a more demanding challenge.
The game received positive reception after its original launch, with critics highlighting its visual style and arcade-inspired gameplay.
AVGN 8-Bit Channels Classic NES Frustration
The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit takes inspiration from notoriously difficult NES-era action games and turns them into a side-scrolling platformer built around the long-running Angry Video Game Nerd series.

The game was developed by Programancer, the studio previously behind Prison City and The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest.
According to James Rolfe, the game draws heavily from enemies, stages, and frustrations featured throughout the AVGN web series.
The physical edition includes a manual illustrated by Mike Matei and continues Retroware’s focus on retro-styled packaging and presentation of classic games through modern console releases.
